New Hampshire Ranks Highest as Easiest Place to Get Divorced

According to Bloomberg’s ranking of the easiest and hardest states in which to get divorced, New Hampshire ranks at the top.  Vermont ranks as the toughest state to get a divorce. The state has a minimum processing time of more than a year, compared to zero-day minimum in New Hampshire. Every state has different laws regarding divorce.  Some factors include state-mandated court filing fees, mandated separation periods, residency requirements and waiting periods after filing. The report also notes southern states have tougher divorce laws, while Western states tend to be easier. Costs range from $50 in South Dakota to $409 in Florida.  It remains clear it is easier to get a divorce now than in past years.  Read more here.
